My Students

Hello! We are in full swing of our first-grade year and I'm still working to make sure my classroom is always prepared for my new group of little learners! They are just so excited to come to school each day and learn and have the opportunity to do so at the best school in town!

The majority of the students in our school come from low-income households and do not get many of the experiences many others are afforded.

Each and every year, I try to find ways to make learning engaging and fun so that they can have the best possible school year. My students have always been so eager about their learning and seem to have genuine excitement about being at school each day. I am always looking for new ways to help this continue so their love of learning will continue to grow!

My Project

Math is one of our absolute favorite learning times in our classroom. Our students love to learn and explore new math concepts and work to master the skills they are practicing.

In hopes to continue their love for that learning, I am hoping to add some new and exciting items to our math routine.

Hot Dots are a great educational tool that students can use to practice skills while receiving direct feedback from the pens. It can easily be incorporated into our math stations and they can use it independently and quietly. Nailing down addition facts is a big focus for us so the flash cards and pens together would really help students with that. The students also use dry-erase markers daily as they either write on our group table, whiteboards, or dry-erase pockets. Our supply is running low so new markers would be a great help to keep us rolling!

Finally, our number focus for 1st grade is 120 and we use small charts each day but it can be easy for students to lose them or can clutter our small work space at the teacher table. Having a large chart for students to view would help us greatly during whole and small group time.
