Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at Title 1 school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have high expectations for growth and academic achievement from my students. Along with our curriculum, I teach typing, coding, and chess. School is a safe and happy place where my students love to come and explore with me. For many of my students, being at school and learning is the best part of their day. I teach Math and Science to 2 classes of second graders.

My Project

This project will allow students to use Math Manipulatives during this time of Social Distancing and not share germs. In order to help keep children in school as much as possible, having individual Math supplies will help prevent the spread of germs.

The foam cubes will be made into dice for higher level Math as in double digit numbers and activities.

The plastic coins will promote financial literacy along with addition and subtraction. Problem solving and strategies will also be promoted with the manipulatives. By using individual supplies, this will allow the students to avoid the spread of germs, but be able to enhance their learning.
