Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working and love learning through hands-on activities. They are sweet and helpful. I love that they always want to do their best and succeed even when the work seems difficult. They work best when given a variety of resources and manipulatives to complete their work.

These students want to have fun exploring and learning.

They have diverse needs and through the use of the resources in this project I can assist every student based on their needs. These manipulatives can also be used to challenge students.

My Project

This is the first year that my school is departmentalizing. I will be the 5th grade math and science teacher. This project will provide my students with a variety of resources to enhance their mathematical skills.

Math can be difficult for many students, but by using these hands-on manipulatives, they can succeed!

I want to help my students understand the concepts behind the mathematics, not just remember a formula or one way to solve. Many students are taught one way to solve a problem and if it doesn't work for them, they struggle to succeed. I want to show students that many math problems can be solved in a variety of ways, such as equations, diagrams, tables and charts. They will be encouraged to explore the problem to find the solution that works best for them.
