This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The essence of mathematics is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple" (S. Gudder). As I prepare for a new school year, I need to arm my classroom with the tools my students need to make them successful, including the scholars who learn best by listening.

My fifth grade students are limited in many resources at home and at school because of the low-economic area they live in.

Some of my students are English Learners and need visual and auditory aids to better learn math concepts. As a fifth grade teacher, I want to build on what their previous teachers have instilled in them and create a new outlook by giving them the opportunity to explore various strategies of learning math through creative learning workstations and the use of manipulatives.

My Project

With this project, I will be able to add an auditory dimension to my classroom. The items that I am requesting will be used to augment the content that is taught in large group and small group settings. Some children learn best in a one-on-one experience with the content. Headphones, audio compact discs, and visual materials form an unbeatable opportunity for the students to master what is being presented in other forms.

Let's help these bright minds by giving them access to a variety of resources and strengthening their math skills.
