My Students

My students are mathletes in training, and it is my goal to show students that math is not only important in their lives but can be fun as well. With the new Common Core curriculum, my students have learned to embrace the struggle and enjoy learning the various concepts in math.

I have a very diverse group of students.

I teach two different types of classes; one eighth grade level math course and two eighth grade Algebra course. They have varying levels of math comprehension but are hard workers. Not only are my students diverse in their ethnic backgrounds but also diverse in their socioeconomic statuses.

My Project

My students are wrapping up the school year and have worked really hard on several projects throughout the year. As a final project, students will be creating game boards in order to help them prepare for the SBAC test. Students will be creating themed game boards with math questions/concepts that were covered throughout the year.

Students will be able to explore their creative side by designing their own game boards while reviewing many of the important concepts they have learned this year in math.

My students need several supplies to help make their game boards really pop. Some of these materials include construction paper, glitter glue, and some puffy paint to add some dimensions to their projects. Their game boards are going to look amazing when they are done!
