My Project

This year brings on a new school and a new school role. While I am still in the classroom and able to teach students with unique learning styles, I am also responsible for assisting reading teachers with ways to increase reading acquisition and comprehension growth in their classrooms. To assist our students with this task, the Morpheme Magic Book of Lessons and Wall Cards are a great way to get the ball rolling.

Included in the Morpheme Magic lessons are ways for students to increase vocabulary growth which will lead to a better comprehension of text.

They will be able to focus on smaller units of speech to determine word meaning. Most times, students may be able to read fluidly. However, when it is time to answer questions regarding vocabulary or when asked to determine the meaning of sentences, they often get stuck. This is partly due to being unfamiliar with the meaning of certain words. The Morpheme Magic lessons are designed in such a way that students will be able to increase word recognition.

Also included in the kits are wall cards that will provide visuals for students during lessons. The wall cards will also serve as a reminder for students post lesson, in the event that they encounter morphemes when decoding unfamiliar words.

The Morpheme Magic Kits will be a great addition to our literacy lessons in the classroom!
