Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a special education teacher, I am honored to teach students who defeat the odds despite everyday challenges. My students make the choice to rise above uncertainty and normality. This has prepared me for the current times we are living in now. It is because of them I am able to adjust, adapt, and embrace shifts with confidence. I write their Individual Education Plan and I Encourage Progress. My students exude strength in areas of weakness. Being able to support them is a privilege I will never take for granted.

I teach at a Title I School in East Las Vegas in which a high percentage of my students come from bilingual homes and all students receive free lunch.

My students have already faced challenges more difficult than most adults have to endure. My students are resilient and hard-working. My students believe that they have something to offer the world and our school's mission is to take that tenacious energy to change the way our community feels about itself. Our students are ready and we can't wait to show you what they will do.

My Project

These items will help keep my students engaged and provide them with hands-on manipulative's. I chose other items to reward students for their awesome behavior and to keep them motivated to continue working! I have added items for incentives to create a treasure box for the students to earn every Friday!

Just like adults, students need the motivation to keep them excited about their learning!

The other supplies will be used to show my students that they can still learn while having fun. The pocket translator will allow me to provide on-spot EL support as well as communicate with Spanish-speaking families quicker and easier. The journals will help me support the social and emotional development of my students during this difficult time. I want to be able to provide them with these items and show them you can come back strong after losing a school year due to the pandemic.
