Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. We are located in a rural area of Phoenix, Arizona where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college. Classroom sizes range in the high 20's and low 30's. As we have made the transition back to in person, our campus has adopted PBIS program as a reward tool. My hope is to bring more rewards for respectful and excelling behavior both socially and academically.

My Project

Sensory tools and rewards make learning fun. We all want to be rewarded for our behavior or going out of our way to do good. Kids are no different then we are. When we reward or notice those behaviors we all want to do more. Our school has adopted a PBIS reward system. Students earn points for behaviors seen by myself and others they encounter throughout the day. Students then are able to redeem points at my classroom store monthly to cash out their points. Currently I have many free items such as eat with teacher, my son's stuffed animals, writing with a pen, sitting in teacher's chair. However, I would like to add more. That's where you come in.
