My Students

My students live in a low income/high poverty neighborhood. Our school has about 30% IEPs and about 15% ELL students. Many of these students come from shelters and have a hard life at home. They want to be in school and are excited to learn new things. They are struggling with reading and writing and need a lot of support by doing small group activities in the classroom.

A lot of the students I serve have special needs and need different ways to approach learning.

Many of these students are performing below grade level and need materials to help strengthen foundational skills needed to get them onto grade level.

My Project

Students will be using these phonics and reading comprehension hands on activities to help build their sight word recognition and reading comprehension. Most of my students are below grade level and need these hands on activities to help push their learning. They love hands on activities especially during literacy centers!

The reading baggies will be used to take books from school to home!

It is much easier to use than Ziploc bags which is what we have now.

The colored ink will help us print work and make it more inviting! We currently only have black ink.

Snacks will be given to students as reward for positive reinforcement.
