Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English Language learners who would love more hands-on activities to learn and socialize with their classmates. Each day they are learning more and more, but new activities will keep them engaged and wanting to learn more!

Playing will give a chance for these students to practice what they are learning.

I have twenty-four children who contribute to our classroom atmosphere in many different ways. They come from low income households, and some have only been in the country for a year or less. My students are in need of English vocabulary and socialization through different types of hands-on activities.

My Project

My students will use these materials during choice time / playtime. The Magna Tiles and Waffle Builders will help the students with their spacial relationships, while using the vocabulary over, under, on top of and next to. The Pop & Match Beginning, Middle and End sounds, will help the students reinforce what they have learned through play. They will use these materials to learn vocabulary, improve their speaking and listening skills, explore and make sense of the world around them. They will learn how to complete tasks independently, as well as part of team.

These great things can all happen while children play.

Play gives students many opportunities to interact with one another. This will allow my ELLs to acquire more English vocabulary.
