Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a class of 22 Kindergarten students at a Title I elementary school in Cypress Hills, New York. The vast majority of these children come from homes where Spanish is the primary language spoken. Despite the challenges they face, they have so much to offer and share.

My students love to give hugs, laugh, and show me just how incredibly intelligent they are every day.

My students have come so far since September. They have been utilizing the first set of Donor's Choose materials with excitement and enthusiasm. They love books and reading, and are math superstars! With your help, I can keep them excited about learning.

My Project

Our class has been waiting for these interactive Smart Pencils to come back in stock. We have the cards to go with them. The pencils will give them instant feedback on how they're doing while I'm busy working with other children in small groups. This will keep them engaged with their task during center time.

I'm excited to bring these 2 balance ball seats into the classroom.

Flexible seating is the new buzz word around our school, and providing fidgety children the option to sit on these will make learning that much more fun and will certainly help them to focus. Imagine how enthusiastic they will be to sit on the rug during whole-group time when its their turn to sit on these!

I've also added in a tray for additional classroom organization/paper work.
