This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in a high poverty neighborhood, where many families are struggling and almost all students receive free lunch.

My class consists of 25 kindergarten students, 6 of which are special education students with an IEP. All of the students receive free lunch. Many students speak English as a second language and their parents do not speak or read English at all. All of my students are hard workers and extremely excited to be in school.

My Project

The use of laminating pouches, and cardstock would allow for me to create reusable classroom resources. When I laminate classroom materials, they are able to be used year after year.

The items I would like to laminate include center activities, whole group activities, classroom posters, word wall cards, library bin labels and various other things that will be used again and again.

Lamination also allows students to write on things with a dry erase marker and simply erase it once they are done. This would help us to cut back on our paper waste. The use of a laminator also allows for less time spent copying.

Last year I received funding for my project "Making It Last!". This project included a laminator, laminating pouches and cardstock. These materials were a life changer when it came to creating materials for the classroom. I would like to continue making materials for our classroom that can be used over and over again.
