Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Like all teachers, I spend hours each week planning, prepping, grading, conferencing, and supporting the children who benefit from my instruction and watchful eye. I ask myself each night, "Did I do the best that I can to support my students?" Not all lessons are effective, and I should do more!

My classroom consists of 20, first grade scholars whom transition from a duel language program to a regular education classroom.

I believe with the help of the materials they can further their understanding in history which further their personal experiences for writing.

My Project

Students in an interactive activity will remember the material better, feel a sense of accomplishment when the task is completed, and be able to transfer that experience easier to other learning situations. Therefore, the CICERO Kids will allow the students to gain insight and improve on fundamental skills. When more than one method of learning is accessed as in interactive learning, the information has a better chance of being stored in the memory for useful retrieval. Students who have difficulty in the learning arena for reasons of ESL barriers, auditory deficiencies, or behavioral interference can be found to be on task more often because they are part of the learning process and not just spectators.

Interactive learning obviously engage kids who are tactile or kinesthetic learners, who need movement to learn best.

They also engage students who are auditory learners, who talk about what they're doing, and visual learners, who have the opportunity to see what everyone else is creating. For social learners, the time spent in small group conversation will strengthen their knowledge. The materials will benefit the students in so many ways.
