This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher working in a low-income, high poverty school district, I see that my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Regardless of the many challenges they face, I am striving to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. On a daily basis, I work with students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. All of my students are eager and ready to learn, but we need resources to help close the learning gap. To assist with this, we need additional resources!
"Every student can learn, just not on the same day or way."
The majority of my students are reading below grade level and struggle with basic math skills. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are. They are truly an amazing group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of learners that are excited and ready to learn!
My Project
This year I have a group of 3 graders that need additional resources to ensure that they are successful. The resource books will be used to ensure that my students are absorbing all of the knowledge needed to be successful in the area of social studies and reading comprehension.
My students are eager and ready to learn new things!
The dry erase marker will be used during independent and center time. The cardstock will be used to create artwork to assist with the current week's lesson. The cart will be used to store all of our resources for quick access. The finger spaces will be used to assist with spacing with writing and hopefully improve penmanship along the way.
The resources in the project will ensure that my students finish the year out strong!
