Making Fitness Fun!

My students need a Samsung ChromeBook. The Chromebook will assist students with tracking their fitness progress throughout elementary school, provide video recordings of movement skills, as well as provide students with educational videos which reinforce learning.

My Students

I am currently the physical education teacher at an elementary school located in West New Brighton on Staten Island. Home to over 500 students, our school is proud to celebrate its extensive history and diverse learning community. The students have a “never quit” attitude regardless of their shortcomings and are truly grateful for the little things in life. They are fearless, taking adversity head-on and most importantly; they are one great big, multi-cultural family, trying to make a difference.

My Project

By incorporating educational technology into physical education, students will become more motivated to participate in fitness activities. The Chromebook will provide multiple services as it can track student progress in a variety of different fitness activities as well as provide them with videos which will reinforce learned skills. As a physical educator, I can also record my students participating in a movement pattern then provide feedback using the video playback in an effort to increase student learning. Physical fitness is a crucial part of a child's education. With childhood obesity levels at an all-time high, we as educators must find a way to break our students' sedentary lifestyle patterns.
