Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

To make physics more fun, students will be making a children's book about what they learned about space, which requires some art supplies. First, they'll make the story outline on a piece of paper. Once I have confirmed that their scientific information is accurate and they are being creative with their stories, they'll be given the art supplies to make a children's book out of.

Before drawing on the construction papers, they'll practice setting up the page on the mini whiteboards using their colorful markers.

They'll get to see what their page would look like and make any necessary adjustments until they are happy with their choice. This is a crucial step to make sure that they are happy with their page set-up, because we all know how frustrating it could be when we feel stuck with our first attempt.

Then, they'll sketch on the white construction papers using pencils and go over with the sharpies and markers later on. They'll also use construction papers, pipe cleaners, and glue to decorate each page. Once done with all pages, they will staple the pages to bind together into a beautiful children's book about space. They will be encourage to read their books to their younger siblings and showcase their work in science!

Science can often times be a overwhelming subject. By incorporating arts and crafts, students will be able to showcase their creativity while also practicing mindfulness and wellness.
