My Students

Our school is located in a small town on the coast of Maine. The community we live in is supportive of our K-8 school and the teachers who work hard each day to provide the best education to our local students. As a community, we try to think outside of the box to supply our students with materials and experiences they need to become well educated and well rounded adults.

First grade is a well organized circus with a variety of performances each day, staring our own SUPERSTAR students!

My students are creative, curious, silly, thoughtful, and hardworking learners. They like learn through hands-on, interactive and engaging projects that challenge them to think outside the box, while also trying to integrate technology into our everyday routine. We are working to prepare our students to be 21st Century learners.

Not everyone learns the same, and being able to provided different materials and tasks that will reach every students learning style will allow them to reach their full potential. Having a classroom that is exciting, engaging, and filled with new, up-to-date and exciting materials inspires students to work hard and learn new things each day.

My Project

First grade is ready to reinvent our writing workshop to make it more engaging for our young authors. Currently, writing is a challenging time of the day. Some students struggle to focus during our afternoon writing block. Others lack the confidence to create a book on their own. We want to provide our first grade students with the opportunity to fall in love with making books. It is our hopes to inspire students to become excited about sharing their best stories and getting creative with how they create a book.

We hope to inspire our young writers by giving them a variety of writing materials that will ignite their creativity.

We are requesting a variety of Duct tapes that students will use to bind together the pages of the books they create. Students will use Crayola Pip Squeak Markers to create beautiful illustrations in their books. Making a mistake isn't so bad when you have fun erasers to fix it with! We are requesting a variety of books that will help us teach our mini authors about how to make books, the different types of books and about telling stories. We are requesting some fancy pens so our writers will have fun as they transfer their story from their mind to the pages of their book! We are looking forward to having a writing supply stash that is sure to make any writer excited to get started right away!
