My Students

Do you remember that day last March when it seemed everything shut down and so many were sent home? I sure do, and so do my first-grade students. After being in a kindergarten class for only six short months, what I am afraid they might not remember is what it is like to be in a classroom, especially a classroom where they must keep their distance from their classmates and teacher!

I teach a group of enthusiastic and energetic 1st grade students who love to ask questions and share their ideas.

Our first-grade class is part of a small, public Title 1 elementary school with a large population of second language learners. Although these youngsters come from the same local neighborhood, their socioeconomic and multicultural backgrounds are very varied. No matter their beginnings, our end goal is to prepare them all to have the characteristics and skills needed to learn, work, and live successfully.

My Project

These transparent desk screens will assist in keeping my students protected as they return to class to learn and to mix with their dear friends again.

I want to provide an environment that is welcoming and safe for all my little ones who will be returning.

While everyone will still need to keep their social distance, my kiddos will be able to use these screens to shield them from unwanted germs, and to share their much-wanted smiles, creativity, and ideas with each other, safely. In addition, I will be able to get close enough to see their work through these transparent table toppers.
