Making 21st Century Artists

My students need visual posters and books to give them additional references in the classroom. My students need a digital drawing tablet to improve their digital projects.

My Students

What does a 21st century art classroom provide? A place that provides real life exposure to technology and careers in art, collaboration, real world learning in the classroom, open ended projects involving problem solving, critical thinking and creativity, and interdisciplinary opportunities.

We are a large, 9-12th grade, public high school in Utah.

My students are all students looking to be challenged and inspired with the latest technology. They love their cell phones and their music. I teach students from ages 9-12th grade that range from the creative artist to the energetic athletes. In my classroom, I work with students of all abilities, skills and interests. Jordan High's mission is to help students recognize their worth, provide each one with a quality education, assure a safe learning environment, help students prepare to assume their responsibilities as adults, and accept and appreciate their individuality.

My Project

This project is requesting posters to use in the classroom that will provide them with additional visual reference to the topics that are provided in both a commercial art, digital photography and ceramics class. I am trying to turn all of my classes into a more progressive 21st century classroom that uses real world information and current technology. With the posters, I am also requesting a digital drawing tablet that my students and I can use for a more modern way of manipulating photographs and draw using real world design software.

My students will have reference material and equipment that will help them to be more successful in a 21st century classroom.

This will give them experience with technology that will be useful to gain skills they will need in a variety of design and art careers.
