My non-traditional classroom consists of 400 eager, bright-eyed students who rotate, 30 at a time, for 45 minutes, through my class each week. We learn STEM. We learn Programming. We learn Google. We learn Robotics.
STEM is our lifestyle!
Whether my students are in the Gifted and Talented program, a traditional program, or the Special Education program, every one of them has the ability to learn STEM concepts in my classroom! Unfortunately, not every student has the ability to finance their own supplies, and being a 100% Title I school, it's safe to say that we can use all the help we can get!
My Project
Having a MakerSpace for a school with 400 students is one of the most rewarding feelings. Every year we do a project that hones in on specific disciplines in the STEM curriculum.
This project is a great way to integrate the Arts with Technology (STEAM), and will also allow for the students to be able to take home their own creations, without having to charge a supply fee or having students feeling left out.
Integrating this mini robotics and circuitry project within our MakerSpace will further our learning and knowledge, using hands-on, project-based learning. Using a toothbrush, button battery and a vibration motor, we can create our own mini robots!
We will be able to race our mini robots or engineer them to perform better. What a fantastic way to get creative while learning about circuits!
