Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I hold a weekly afterschool club, Makerspace. My students range from 4th-6th grade. Makerspace. My students learn through hands-on learning and manipulation of materials. My students continue to ask for more building materials.

They love to create and innovate but I am lacking the supplies they need.

I would love to have a variety of building materials that could inspire them to create and share. My students enjoy tinkering and experimenting with the materials I have available to them. The pride that is shown on their faces as they discover how to build a circuit on their own, code a robot or create an optical illusion with paper is priceless. I would like to give my students more opportunities for them to be proud of their work.

My students like to work on a creation and set it aside to add to it the next week. My students want to show off their work and with the lack of supplies that is not always possible. I want my students to feel pride in their ingenuity.
