My Students

Students need more opportunities to create, explore, and tinker. The library is the perfect setting for learning and making to take place...so help us build our makerspace!

At a time when so much emphasis is placed on the weight of standardized testing, my students need more opportunities to learn, create, and discover their passion without the worry of a score or grade.

The 1000 students in 6-8 grade at our school would thrive in a space designed for them to build, tinker, and create. They need an environment where it is okay to try new things and fail, because the best learning happens in a setting where failure is okay and just another opportunity to try again.

My Project

This library makerspace will provide students with a variety of opportunities for creativity to flourish. Students will be able to tinker with and explore basic electronics in a hands-on setting with MaKey MaKeys and Snap Circuits. The creation of our LEGO wall will give students an opportunity to showcase their creativity. Students will also be introduced to robotics with the Sphero. The makerspace will be available for all students to engage in creative activity through making.

This project will give students an outlet to express their creativity and learn through making.

Students will have opportunities to discover new interests in science, technology, and engineering with the resources available in the makerspace.
