Makerspace Madness in the Art Room

My Project

Students in art, just as in any classroom, work at different paces. When students finish their art, they choose enrichment art activities. After attending a few Makerspace and STEAM workshops, I set out to make these activities even more meaningful. We have a great Makerspace that needs new and different materials. These Makerspace STEAM supplies will not only enrich their art skills, but challenge their creativity, problem solving, and make innovative learners!

These supplies will help my students become the type of learners that 21st century schools and businesses look for in this technology driven world.

Students will work with puzzles and brain games to enhance their problem solving, memory, and cooperative learning skills. The Spirograph, marble run, mosaic stickers, and diamond art will enhance their creativity and problem solving skills. These are all meaningful activities to work on when they complete their main art assignments in class.

My hope for my students is that they grow into learners, questioners, and problem solvers. In our classroom, mistakes are okay - and we figure out solutions together. I want kids to utilize their creativity and problem solving skills even when they finish their assignments. I would like to continue to grow activities and tubs of Makerspace activities that I rotate out throughout the year. These supplies would allow me to add new learning opportunities to my growing Makerspace for the art room. Help my students use STEAM skills!
