My Project

Supplies in this request include a wide range of mixed media materials for a variety of projects. Students in Art + STEM = STEAM are pursuing individualized passion-projects to engage in choice-based work. Some supplies requested here are consumables, while others will last us decades! Materials we are seeking include a Dremel tool set (drill for clay, wood and metal work); acrylic paint (for painting on canvas, painting details on our school mural, and creating a school community photo booth); canvas to paint on; wood for our Glowforge laser-engraver; jewelry making and beading supplies; needles for sewing; and so much more to stock our art room and makerspace. Your support is invaluable!

As Friedrich Froebel says, "To learn a thing in life through doing is much more developing, cultivating and strengthening, than to learn it merely through the verbal communication of ideas."

Art is the only subject in our school that sees every single student in the entire school population. Not even our physical education or the music classes do so. We have the ability to reach every students to promote creative thinking, provide an area for student-led, self-directed problem-solving, while reinforcing students' abilities to learn in a hands-on and interactive format.

Our school kids range in age from 3 years old (preschool) all the way up through 14 years old (8th graders). We are in a high-poverty, low-income, rural farming community. Our elementary and middle school is a Title I school, with 67% of our students federally classified as low-income (qualified for free and reduced-price lunches).
