Makers and Creators Need Help to Fill the Palette!
My students need paper, watercolor paint, oil pastels, pencils, erasers, tempera paint, brushes, markers, printmaking materials, color pencils and erasers.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My new upper elementary art classroom will be the creative hub of our school. Students will learn how to communicate ideas, solve problems and express themselves in a nontraditional way. We have a small obstacle in our way; we don't have classroom materials needed to achieve this.
My students are in grades 4 through 6 in a low-income/high poverty school district with 100% free and reduced lunches.
My students love having a chance to create on a weekly basis. They are bright, expressive and engaged in the art room. I am hoping to introduce more advanced techniques in their new building. With the help of the community and donations from this site, we have built a stellar lower elementary art program. I am hoping to get the year started off right with the materials students need to succeed in their new art room.
My Project
Art is a valuable component of a students education. This class offers students the chance to collaborate, problem solve, make decisions, persevere and build confidence through art production. With the supplies I am requesting, students will be able to paint, draw, sculpt, print and sketch their ideas. We need paper, watercolor paint, oil pastels, pencils, erasers, tempera paint, brushes, markers, printmaking materials, color pencils and erasers.
We lack the basic funding that these artists deserve.
I want these materials to engage my students in the art curriculum. They can take pride in the materials, artwork, displays and our school. With the new supplies, we can create the artwork that will hang in our school-wide art show. My hope is to set the year off right and fill the palette at our new school!
