My Students

A typical day in my classroom is full of learning, fun and conversation. Students are encouraged to critique their peers' work as asked in common core. I would like my students to be able to create blogs and discussion boards as a place to critique each other's work freely.

My class is made up of 24 unique students who are all at many different learning levels.

My class is a 6th grade integrated co-teaching class. There is a ratio of 60% general education students and 40% students with disabilities ranging from speech impaired to learning disabilities. We are located in a low-income neighborhood, where many students do not have computers or use of technology at home due to financial reasons.

My Project

My hope is for us to create an assessment center with a new laptop, where my students could log-on and post critiques about their peers' work on a blog or discussion board and have open conversations about lesson or project strengths and weaknesses. I feel that the students will feel more comfortable assessing each other in an open online forum.

This laptop project will help my students adapt more to the common core standards of self and peer assessment portions.

They will also be able to assess strengths and weaknesses that they are encountering through technology. This will also help me to drive my instruction to address issues my students are facing in daily lessons.
