My Students

I teach Reading to High School students in the Moderate/Severe Special Education classroom. My students are hard-working, kind, determined, and ready to face any challenge!! They come from a low income area, and have few opportunities to learn important skills outside of the classroom. One of the many challenges that they face every day is in learning new reading skills. I would like to help each of my students realize the value of reading by making it fun and interesting. Please support my students with books that make reading exciting!!

My Project

The materials I have requested will be used in my English Language Arts classes for students with Moderate/Severe special needs, to help engage my students in high interest novels that will ignite their imaginations, all while learning new reading skills!

The students will have the opportunity to read aloud and discuss the books with their peers in a fun and creative way!

Many of my students struggle with reading, and textbooks can be difficult to maintain their attention and interest. With these books, I have chosen subjects of interest to each of my groups of students, so that they will be attentive and curious about what they are going to read. Making reading fun again for many students that have lost confidence in their reading abilities. Please help my classroom get these books so the reading adventure can begin!!
