Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I love the diversity of my students! They come to me with their unique personalities and let them know that that individuality is the BEST part of our classroom! I love that my students come into my classroom and learn how to hold discussions with each other about the texts that they read. I have my students listen to a read aloud and provide open ended questions for them to discuss in a small group! They learn comprehension skills and social skills as they collaborate at this center! I consistently instill a love a reading by providing my students a cozy place where they can enjoy a good book. The Power Pens will support reading comprehension cards and math review cards. These will be available to students as a choice activity during centers time. Giving students freedom to choose helps them to feel valued and teaches them responsibility! I appreciate you taking the time to consider my project!
