My Students

I teach in Brooklyn, New York. I am the only monolingual person in my classroom. Most students are currently English language learners or recently tested out. Many of my students are immigrants themselves or first-generation Americans. I also have numerous students with IEPs.

My Project

It's been a long 18 months for my 5th-grade class. Many of them haven't been in a classroom since March 2020. I can't wait to help welcome them back and make math class as fun as possible.

My goal is to make students comfortable in math.

I want them to know it's about trial and error. I am requesting individual dry erase boards and erasers so every child will have a hands-on and engaging way to calculate math. I am requesting chart paper so I can make engaging charts to assist with lessons.
