My Students

Most of my students come from a rural low-income community and all qualify for Special Education assistance through an IEP or Individual Education Plan.

Despite their challenges, my students are awesome and love hands-on activities.

With hands-on activities, students are eager to learn and engage in the lesson.

From moving around in the classroom to more hands-on learning, our school strives to create the best possible learning environment for our students but like anyone else, we are limited by our budget.

My Project

For years, students have been given "old" Science materials that are outdated and don't hold their interest for very long. All of my students are identified with at least one of the 13 categories of special education. With that, a few of the students have additional needs with fine motor skills, vision impairment, etc. Students today learn best from having hands-on visual activities, especially my students.

My students have been underserved when it comes to Science and hands-on activities.

With each of the items in my cart, students will be able to have that hands-on experience while demonstrating their knowledge about simple machines. These items would allow my students to create their own simple machines. They can use Brackitz Driver Parts Expansion and Pulley set to demonstrate different types of machines. Along with a life skill of how to create a "machine" in the future that could make life easier for them as they grow up. For example, the pulley set, students will create a display on how they could use a pulley to lift items up. All the items that are listed for this project will help increase higher order thinking skills for my students which sometimes can be difficult for them but having something hands-on and engaging, my students would be excited about learning.
