My students are a great group; coming from many parts of the world, they are full of energy and a desire to learn. Although my class is a Spanish class, I hear students speaking multiple languages as they also communicate well in English and improve their burgeoning Spanish skills.
Many of them have been through multiple natural disasters, including Hurricane Harvey.
Houston is an area that is prone to flooding with any bad storm and students always have this threat in the back of their minds.
My Project
There are multiple grammar and vocabulary exercises that can be done with dry eraser blocks, so students will have fun learning. There is also a body of research that finds that students learn best when they employ multiple modalities; drawing has been explored as a useful way to learn languages.
Having all these supplies will help my students grow their communication skills, an essential part of today's world.
We need the sharpener as a basic classroom supply also, which students will use with their everyday pencils, but they can also use with the colored pencils that are part of this project. Thanks!
