My Students

First grade is all about hands-on learning! After a whole year of learning online, they need to interact with concrete examples to fully understand what they are learning. Whether it is from math, science, or social-emotional learning, we are constantly acting out situations and using manipulatives to help them succeed.

They may be little but they are filled with emotions and confidence that can leave you amused and astonished all at once.

They can learn and grow so much in first grade when they are given the opportunity!

My Project

This year we need more hands on learning than ever! So many standards were left unmastered because of the lack of one-on-one and hands on activities. With these classroom supplies, learning materials, and accessories, I will be able to help my students master CCSS.OA- Operations and Algebraic Equations and CCSS.NBT- Numbers in Base Ten. So many materials from this project will help my students transition back into the classroom. Mesh bags will be used to hold student books, crayons will help foster their creativity, dry erase markers will help with student whiteboards, the bissel sweeper will help us clean our classroom since we now eat breakfast in here together. I will use the laminating sheets to create centers, games, and small group activities that help foster these addition, subtraction, and base ten skills. An example would be to print and laminate puzzle pieces that have math problems. Students would utilize the ten frames (included in this project) to help them solve. Then, they would find the matching puzzle piece. Because they are laminated, they are protected and will be able to be used again and again! And, thanks to the storage containers included in this project, everything will be easily accessible and organized for students. Also, thanks to distance learning, we are able to have many chromebooks in our classroom. However, little hands struggle to navigate using the mousepad. I have included wireless mice for students to make use of the chromebooks easier.

These centers and activities are so important to help them practice their educational skills, as well as their social skills in a group setting.
