Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Please help us get some wonderful environmental awareness picture books for our classroom library to celebrate Earth Day! These books will be about animals and their beautiful habitats!
I currently have 29 students enrolled in my classroom.
My school is considered high poverty and according to the Illinois State Board of Education 99% of the students at our school are considered low income. All of my students are English Language Learners who speak a second language at home that is not English, plus they mostly come from low-income homes where there is often no money to purchase books. Unfortunately, my students' parents do not have the funds to purchase their children picture books so my students mostly rely on our classroom library for books.
My Project
We need an environmental awareness library that includes titles like Life in a Pond, Life in a Rain Forest, and animal picture cards to further research animals. Since my students love to borrow books from our classroom library, I would love to promote environmental awareness by adding more picture books that promote Earth Day to our library. Currently, our library is lacking books that celebrate Earth Day.
