My Students

Our school's mission is to position our students to be creative, dedicated, and resilient learners who embrace the power of diverse ideas, talents, and cultures to improve our world. Through implementing new courses in our curriculum and continuing to support our after-school robotics programs, we've expanded our engineering and computer science programs for the upcoming year.

Every student needs the opportunity to experience these programs and all that's out there to offer in the STE[A]M fields!

Our school is a K-12 public school that faces the same constraints and funding as all other public schools in the state of Florida. Our enrollments in PLTW courses total approximately 130 students per school year. In these courses, students are learning to design, test, and present their findings that are creative and sustainable approaches for the engineering grand challenges, while also designing solutions for people with disabilities, learning 3-D modeling software, and using their 3-D printed designs to solve everyday challenges.

My Project

By giving students choice in how their designs are printed, I can show them the variation in materials, applications, and design intent that leads to an initial prototype to final design solutions.

With the robotics kits, 3-D printing pens and filament, along with the small desktop laser cutter, students will be able to bring their 3-D modeled designs to life!

We will be implementing a new 3-D modeling software this year with students, and I'd love the opportunity for students to be able to bring their 2-D designs to life. This opportunity will make learning real, relevant, and something they can be proud of to take and show to their families, friends, classmates, and those in our community.
