Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning how to write well makes students better readers. Research shows that when children write sentences and try different kinds of genres, their ability to read and understand a wider variety of writing improves too.

Reading and writing are reciprocal skills.

As children's writing improves, so does reading.

Mahalia Jackson, the famous gospel singer is our schools' namesake. Mahalia inspired so many with her voice and passion. Following her example, Mahalia Student Publishing will inspire our students to 'publish' original writing, all styles of writing.

The binding machine and materials will help create a more professional look for published works. Our purpose will be to create a student library of books and to inspire other classes. We will have publishing parties to celebrate our successes. Mahalia Student Publishers will celebrate learning through improved literacy.
