Help me give my students the power to magnify science. This project will allow us to add two Swift M2251C Educational Microscopes to our classroom. We will also purchase microscope slides, coverslips, and magnifying lenses.

Our middle school classes are filled with students from many different backgrounds. My 7th graders love learning about science in the world around them. I teach 3 sections of 7th grade science, including one that is for English Language Learners. My students learn the best when they can experience hands on activities that allow them to make observations, collect and analyze data, develop and use models and construct explanations.
My Project
Students love to experience hands-on science. Microscopes allow my 7th graders to look closely at many types of things. They will be able to see plant and animal cells and identify cell structures.
Making observations about the world around them is a crucial part of the scientific process.
The observations that my students make of cells will cause them to ask questions, create inferences, draw models, and construct explanations about different types of cells.
Having the typically unnoticed parts of our world become visible is one of the most amazing experiences to get middle school kids to re-awaken the natural curiosity that we are all born with.
