Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I School in Pasadena, Texas where Hurricane Harvey made landfall the first week of school this year. Our school community has majorly been affected by this disaster, from students and staff having their homes flooded, to new students joining us from surrounding areas. Our school has worked together with our community to provide as much as we can to help our students experience a good, healthy, and safe education!

My classroom is full of 9 energetic and eager to learn students with autism.

They all have varied individual abilities and developmental strengths and weaknesses. They need guidance and support to help them communicate and function socially. They enjoy learning using technology and items that allow them to move around. They are a pleasure to teach and I look forward to seeing them grow everyday!

My Project

My students are kindergarten through 2nd graders and they will be using these manipulatives to help them with their learning and practice of math, phonics and fine motor skills.

My students all have autism and struggle with fine motor skills, and these manipulatives will help them to develop these skills.

They learn so much better when they have hands on activities that these manipulatives will provide.

Letter beads can be used to also help with letter recognition and letter sounds. The science sorting cards will help them to identify the properties of items. The magnetic puzzles help with fine motor skills, along with math skills.
