My Students

My students are enrolled in the early childhood special education (ECSE) program, which is a part of the special education department. Each student has an education plan to outline their individual goals. My class is designed to help some of the smallest learners in our district achieve their social, emotional, individual, and academic goals. Some students in the ECSE program are nonverbal, while some communicate through speech, sign language, and/or communication devices.

Each of my students is unique and spectacular in their own way!

My students learn through sensory activities, hands-on instruction, songs, and learning through play. Their smiles and whimsical giggles let me know they are enjoying what they are learning. We spend each day focusing on meeting our learning goals and having fun while we do it!

My Project

Children are curious about the way things work and magnets are a great way to spark their interest in educational materials that will allow them to learn as they play. The materials in this project will help my students with fine motor control, academic skills, hand-eye coordination, and increase their concentration.

The materials will be used in our classroom during centers and small group time to help students with individual goals as well as skills that are learned in the early childhood classroom setting to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
