Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a diverse population of students, including honors, special education, and English language learners from many different cultural backgrounds and with different educational needs. We are a Title I school, meaning students come from lower socio-economic circumstances. I teach science to three eighth-grade classes yearly, with thirty students in each class. My students are located mainly in the Elmhurst and Corona areas of Queens, which were hit very hard by the pandemic. I teach many newcomer students who just came over, have little to no supplies, and need a lot of support.
My students will use these magnets to learn through play about Newton's Laws of Motion as seen in these magnets.
