My Students
My students are magical, creative, and logical. They come prepared to learn each day. They especially enjoy group projects and activities that enhance their learning experience. After over a year of pandemic-related hardship, my students have been putting their best foot forward. Each day, they are eager to learn, read in class, and ask questions that challenge what they already know. I am so proud of my fantastic scholars.
I am a first-year teacher, but did not disclose this to my students; they find my classroom to be a safe, supportive space.
When I decided to become a teacher, I knew I wanted to craft a learning environment that is inclusive, loving, and positively rigorous. As a result, my students have responded well to activities and content I have thought about for years before becoming a teacher. I harnessed all of the wonderful qualities of my past teachers to create this classroom and I am so grateful that my students love being here!
My Project
As a first-time teacher, these materials will help me create a visually stimulating, beautiful, and enriching classroom. With these items, the students will be able to see how much effort and love I put into my daily activities and will have enhanced access to projects and the group activities that they enjoy completing. Having many colors, patterns, and visually stimulating materials helps break up the monotony of handouts and presentations.
My Journalism students will also benefit from materials that enhance their experiences in the classroom for design and visual purposes.
For example, having items like colored paper, notebooks, paper cutters, and other craft items will aid in creating layouts that are visually stimulating and beautiful for the school newspaper. My journalism students also have introduced a "food" section in the newspaper, so we often share recipes, for which we use utensils.
