Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely adore teaching elementary music, and my students are creative, funny, and smart. They love coming to music class each week knowing we're always going to be doing something different and fun. However, my elementary students were drastically affected by the coronavirus pandemic when they were at their youngest, most crucial ages.

The items in this project will help my students learn about and experience essential musical concepts that were missed due to COVID learning loss.

I believe students learn best through play and movement, and these items will help us do that! With rhythm sticks, my students can experience beat and rhythm through movement. The slide whistle will help students learn how to access and warm-up their singing voice. The book "Jungle Beat" will provide my youngest students with movement activities and songs that bring joy while still teaching important musical concepts. Lastly, the shoe tree will house all of our beloved classroom puppets so they can be easily accessible to my students, who love to listen to them and play with them.
