My Students

I teach students in grades 1-5 with disabilities (mostly autism). My students have developing fine and gross motor skills. They will greatly benefit from fun learning activities that teach early literacy and math activities that will engage their special interests. We would love activities that provide the colorful engaging experience some students need in order to learn what is previously taught in the classroom. I would like for them to have items they may not see at home.

My Project

Students who may not learn conventionally or cannot perform paper and pencil tasks easily sometimes have issues with confidence and frustration. These activities hopefully will calm some of those issues. I hope to engage students' learning and promote independent learning using various centers. The Dot answering system helps students with issues of fine motor skills participate alongside their peers with paper and pencil tasks with confidence. I feel the counting and sequence puzzles promotes students to think logically and critically and with peer to peer guidance. These activities will also promote social engagement that is beneficial to students with autism.
