This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are energetic and eager to learn new things! My students were remote for most of the last school year and their desire to learn is amazing! I always have high expectations that each of my students will grow and learn. For many of our students, being at school is the best part of their day! Many students come from low socio-economic status families and are eligible for free meal programs. Many face hardships in their everyday lives and school is a safe and happy place for them. I truly believe in each one of them and are determined to give them the help they need to be successful.

My Project

I am looking forward to this new school year and enjoying the new carpet with my students. We will create many new memories during our social emotional learning, and during reading and math whole and small group lessons!

We are ready for this new school year and a colorful new carpet with designated spots for each child!

Getting a new rug for our classroom will give students a clean and comfortable environment to learn in. This past year, students were not allowed to sit on carpets since they cannot be easily cleaned daily. The carpets were taken out of our classrooms to allow the maximum amount of space needed between each student. Although now some restrictions are being lifted, our previous carpet was several years old, and the colors were faded! It is where ideas are shared, friendships are made, lessons are learned, and a love of reading grows throughout the school year!
