My Students

Practice, practice, practice! Many kindergarten skills require the practice that isn't appealing to five and six year olds. I'm constantly trying to find ways for my students to work on basic skills such as letter and number formation, without it seeming like work. If it's fun, they're learning!

I have 26 kindergarten students in my class.

The group of students I have are very busy and eager to learn! We have a full day program for all kindergarten students. Our school has undergone a great change this year and is now an Early Learning Center. We have 9 kindergarten classrooms with almost 300 five and six year olds in one building! In addition, our school also houses two Early Childhood classrooms and a Parents as Teachers program. It's been an exciting year for our district!

My Project

Help us practice early learning skills in a fun and environmentally friendly way! My students need daily practice with fine motor skills, handwriting, sight word practice, math skills, and number writing. We have many songs and poems we use for learning letters, numbers, and songs. Students can practice writing as they listen to the songs and sing along. Using paper for all of these activities isn't necessary if we have magic boards! We can be "green" while we work and learn!

Students come into kindergarten with many different backgrounds, as well as different abilities.

As kindergarten teachers, we strive to help all children achieve a solid foundation of learning so that they are ready for first grade. Teaching in a developmentally appropriate manner is necessary to reach all learners. Using different materials, such as a magic board instead of paper and pencil, helps students stay interested and focused. The result is student learning. Help us reach our goal!
