This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am building a community of creative, empathetic, enthusiastic young learners! I want my students to feel safe in taking risks, both academically and socially.

I want to foster a lifelong passion for learning and imagination!

These are our youngest learners, coming from very diverse backgrounds, and I want to set the foundation of loving school, learning and creativity. Many of my students are English-language learners and having access to this imaginative learning will foster their language development and confidence as they grow throughout the year.

My Project

My classroom of 30+ kindergartners will be focusing our literacy units around the Magic Tree House series! We use a curriculum called Tools of the Mind, and it heavily encourages learning through play, social interaction and dramatization.

Students learn self-regulation, communication and social skills, as well as literacy skills of writing and reading through imaginative play, dress up and props!

We will travel the world and beyond in our classroom together! Each book guides our theme...medieval knights, pirates, space exploration, African savannah, artic tundra, just to name a few!

I would love to create a MAGIC space for them to be excited to come to every day and fully invest in their own learning!
