This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A classroom rug is an essential addition in any classroom. It provides an alternate learning space for students when sitting at their desk can get tiresome. As a second-year teacher, my current classroom rug was passed down from many previous teachers and it's very old. This rug has been used for MANY years with many students, so I know that the new rug will be a great investment and used for many years to come.

Carpet time supports scholars' academic and social-emotional skills.

Our current classroom rug features a design that can make it difficult for my 1st graders to know where their ‘spot’ is. I'm excited to have more structure in our lessons on the rug with the design of the new rug. These dots will allow students to have a designated seating spot on the rug and to help with classroom management. A large amount of our learning takes place on the classroom rug and with a new classroom rug, my students will be able to have a bright and fresh learning environment. This rug will provide a welcoming environment for current and future students.
