This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kids come from mostly poor households; however, they deserve to come into a classroom that is lively and refreshing. These 2nd graders notice every little thing and sure keep me on my toes, especially if I've "forgotten" something. Their abilities range across the board, but they all love to come to school, and I love being their teacher.

Most kids walk in every day, start their routine and are ready to learn.

Kids in my class have low absenteeism and make it to school despite the many hardships they face on a daily basis.

My Project

Towards the end of last school year, we had to throw away our aged carpet due to a student vomiting all over it. Yuck! It was not able to be saved; albeit it was also quite old and worn.

We use the carpet throughout the day because it makes for better listening and learning time rather than students sitting at a desk.

As the colder weather approaches the floor will get cold as well as dirty and not so good for little bottoms. We sit at the carpet in the morning for morning circle, read aloud, and math time. Students can turn and talk with each other when doing math on their white boards.
