My Students

My students are talented violin and cello players in Grades K-5 in our schools' string program. All children are very excited to be back to in-person learning and making music together.

Many students didn't have access to instruments during remote learning and now have to re-start learning how to play a string instrument from the very beginning level.

Some of the students struggle with holding the bow correctly and do need special teaching aids to help them to master the proper bow holds which is extremely important for any musician to develop a nice beautiful sound and to learn many different bow techniques to improve their playing skills.

My Project

The bow hold teaching aid will help my students to develop an effective bow hold. It will be used at home and at school during violin and cello practice. The Bow Hold Teaching aid accessory will definitely help to develop an effective bow hold. The bow has often been called "the violinist's breath." While violin bow technique varies a bit among fine players, all agree the primary goals of the violin bow hold are balance, control, and lack of tension. With materials we need (electric tape and art tape) students will make their own "pinky house" to help them to keep the pinky in the right place and will prevent it from slipping from the correct position.
