My Students

I teach first grade in an amazing school in North Carolina. My students are very bright and most come to school already reading at or above grade level.

I am lucky that over the years I have built a very large and extensive classroom library.

My students love all the book choices they have. I also have many primary kid magazines. Each time students choose books, they can choose magazines to read. The students love to look at the pictures in the magazines, but they also love that they are capable of reading the actual words in the magazines. The problem is that over the years, my magazines have started to fall apart. Most of my magazines don't have covers any more, or they are just torn up. I am constantly going through and throwing away the old magazines. I am requesting subscriptions to kid friendly magazines: Ladybug, Cricket, National Geographic Kids, American Girls, Ranger Rick, Highlights, and Boys Life.

My Project

If my project is funded, my students would have access to new, kid friendly magazines. My students would have the opportunity to select magazines based on their interest level and read them. We read everyday, and even my low readers would be able to read the articles in the magazines and enjoy the pictures.

My students will go crazy to have access to these magazines.

I guarantee that my class will be totally engrossed with these subscriptions to new magazines. Thank you for reading my proposal.
