This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

History is an exciting subject when students are given the opportunity to construct historical meaning using multiple sources of information.

My students love to discover, debate, and share the results of their research.

When confronted with multiple sources that disagree they begin to discuss the quality of the author, the nature of each source, and look for issues in the sources. As a history teacher, this discussion of the sources makes me smile.

My Project

In this lesson students will use the "Madison's Notes are Missing" activity from the Bill of Rights Institute to reconstruct the events of the Constitutional Convention. After conducting their interviews, each group will use the digital microphones with our class iPads to create a podcast discussing their chosen issue. The students will then research how the topic is discussed in Madison's notes. The group will then use the poster board, markers and colored pencils to create a large infographic showing the different opinions of each delegate and what ultimately happened.

Student engagement is a key element of student learning.

With these supplies students will interact with the thoughts and ideas of the delegates through the writing and production of an audio podcast and the design and creation of a large visual infographic. This higher level of engagement will lead to my students gain a much better understanding of the issues and ideas discussed during the creation of the U. S. Constitution. Thank you!
